Pakistan’s Cricket Star Spotted Observing Iftar at Masjid Al Haram
Pakistan’s renowned cricketer and former captain, Babar Azam, has performed Umrah and was seen partaking in iftar at Masjid Al Haram, the holiest site in Islam, located in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
A video shared by Safeer Azam, Babar’s brother, on Instagram captures the right-handed batter breaking his fast with a date while sitting in the open courtyard near the Kaaba.
Safeer Azam Shares Memorable Moments
In the Instagram post, Safeer captioned the video with “Alhamdulillah,” expressing gratitude for the spiritual journey. Additionally, he uploaded several pictures of himself with Babar, using the hashtag #Umrah2025, confirming their presence in Saudi Arabia for the sacred pilgrimage.
Not Babar Azam’s First Visit to the Holy Cities
This isn’t the first time Babar Azam has visited Makkah and Medina during Ramadan. The cricket sensation also performed Umrah during the holy month in 2024, strengthening his connection with faith.
Babar Azam in the Spotlight for Cricketing Reasons
While Babar’s presence at the holiest site has touched hearts, he has also been in the news due to recent cricketing developments.
Despite his notable performance in the Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has excluded him from the squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. The tour is set to take place from March 16 to April 5, with T20Is scheduled between March 16-26 and ODIs from March 29 to April 5.
Father’s Reaction to Babar’s Omission
Babar Azam’s exclusion hasn’t gone unnoticed. His father took to social media to express disappointment, highlighting that Babar was named in the ICC T20I Team of the Year and awarded the team cap, yet was still dropped. However, he remained hopeful that Babar would make a strong comeback through outstanding performances in the National T20 and Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Stay tuned for more updates on Babar Azam’s journey both on and off the field.
