Wasim Akram Criticizes Babar Azam’s Slow Innings Against New Zealand

Pakistan faced a tough loss against New Zealand in the opening game of the Champions Trophy at the National Stadium in Karachi. Centuries from Tom Latham and Will Young guided New Zealand to a commanding 60-run victory over the defending champions.

Wasim Akram Unhappy with Babar Azam’s Strike Rate

Legendary pacer Wasim Akram didn’t hold back while analyzing Babar Azam’s innings of 64 off 90 balls. Speaking on the show Dressing Room, Akram stated:

“I don’t want 60 off 90 balls from my main player. I’d rather have him getting 35 off 30 balls instead of playing a slow knock. This approach doesn’t work in modern-day cricket.”

Praise for Salman Ali Agha’s Aggressive Batting

Akram, however, appreciated Salman Ali Agha for his attacking mindset, highlighting his quickfire 42 off 28 balls. He pointed out that while Babar was the set batter, it was Salman who took the risks to accelerate the scoring.

Pakistan will need to rethink their approach as they prepare for the upcoming matches in the tournament.
